What Took You So Long? Single Review
Another band who are tipped as a promising entity in 2008 are The Courteeners. Their sound is like.....you know, bit Libertinesy, bit indie, bit mancunian rock. If that’s what you're into or hang on the word of anything the NME writes, then read on.
You can see why the song can turn heads, because it is quite catchy. But its so clichéd. If you thought The Enemy's frontman is a bad rip-off of Paul Weller (circa 1978) then you should check out The Courteeners singer, Liam Fray. He's got the snarls and woah's down to a tee.
The song is pleasant enough with its jangly pop tune and then comes the line "Do you know who I am, I'm like a Morrissey with some strings". They're only on their third single and they are already comparing themselves to Moz. Mouthy, Mancunians with an ego who still think its 1966. I've got Deja Vu.
What Took You So Long is released on the 14th January.
