Miles Apart, EP Review
Relying on a multitude of genres, Glasgow's Viva Stereo are back with their third album out in the spring of next year. But to give you a taster of what their recent direction sounds like, comes the Miles Apart EP.
Opening up with Night Owl. An indie tune with a whiff of ambient dance thrown in there for good measure. The riffing guitars abrade with the haunting chorus vocals whilst the deep bass drum bangs relentlessly in the background.
Moving into more electronic territory is Diatribe. Processed beats flow with guitar laden effects that gently float through the air. The light, fluffy vocals become apparent and radical towards the close of the song.
The stripped down Orphan Hands is accompanied by the slightest of synths, but it gets most of its substance from the acoustic guitar and piano that drives the song forward.
The final track from the EP, KHB has a certain folk undertone. The placid strumming soaks into the whirring vocals from an ensemble of background accompaniment.
Viva Stereo's Miles Apart EP is released on 19th November.
